UPHF on the road at the University of Victoria, Canada
From March 28 to 30, 2022, the Department of Sciences of Man and Life (SHV) of LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201 and the Pole of International Relations were on a trip to Victoria (Canada) where they met with colleagues from the University of Victoria (UVIC).
The meetings aimed to work on the implementation of current projects and explore new opportunities for collaborations.
Our partnership with UVIC allows us to host students on internships at the SHV department and at our partners in the territory and to send UPHF students on study mobilities at UVic since 2013.
UPHF is also a partner in the Global Skills Opportunity of which UVic is a recipient; a program that aims to empower post-secondary institutions to increase the participation of Canadian youth - particularly underrepresented students (Aboriginal students, students with disabilities, and low income students) - in international learning opportunities.
Marc Bavin - Associate Director of Global Partnerships and Project Manager for UVic's GSO project
Marc BavinI am grateful for the support and commitment of UPHF as we initiate and plan this project for the next 5 years. We look forward to deepening our partnership with UPHF especially through our collaboration on this project.

Victoria Hand Project
Finally, the visit included a meeting with Michael Peirone and the team from Victoria Hand Project (VHP), a Canadian charity that provides 3D printed prosthetic arms to the world's poorest communities. VHP has partnered with healthcare professionals in eight developing countries, providing them with advanced 3D printing technologies to manufacture the prosthetic arms in their own communities.
This visit, the first since Prof. Franck Barbier's visit in 2013, has paved the way for further discussions that will continue through direct contact between the teacher-researchers involved.
