Immerse yourself in the world of research with EUNICE

This March, UPHF will be hosting a Blended Intensive Program (BIP) organized as part of EUNICE, the European alliance of universities of which it is a member. Some thirty students from partner universities will be taking part in this research-based program. This event will be another opportunity to showcase the international openness and dynamism of our establishment.

What is BIP "Discovering Research in a European Context"?

A BIP is an intensive program developed by several EUNICE alliance partners on a particular subject through courses, exchanges and various activities.

What makes BIP unique? It's their hybrid nature! In fact, it's a program of courses that will take place in two phases:
-    A week of online courses, enabling students to discover the fundamentals of the scientific approach and its associated methodologies.
-     A week of online courses, enabling students to discover the fundamentals of the scientific approach and its associated methodologies. -    A week in Valenciennes, during which the 30 students selected from the EUNICE alliance will work in teams, meet UPHF researchers and take part in practical workshops and visits. They will also have the opportunity to take part in the "Mardi des Chercheurs" event, held this year in Mons, Belgium.
Entitled "Discovering Research in a European Context", this BIP will offer three students from each EUNICE member university a hands-on immersion in the world of research. Two students from the Université Catholique de Lille, an associate partner of the alliance, will also join the group. In all, some 30 students will be taking part in this international experience.
It is open to students in Master's or 1st year PhD programs.
The program is co-constructed with other EUNICE partner universities, mobilizing teachers, researchers and specialists.

The modules on which students will have the opportunity to work are as follows:
1.    Research for dummies: the fundamentals of scientific research.
2.    Beyond the laboratory: how research shapes society, careers and diversity.
3.    European research: funding, mobility and strategic connections.
4.    From lab to spotlight: how to present, design and publish your research.
Its main asset: to open the doors of European research to students from all horizons and enable them to develop cross-disciplinary skills (teamwork, scientific communication, critical thinking...).

A program in line with EUNICE's strategic objectives

The EUNICE - European University for Customised Education alliance, of which UPHF is a founding member, aims to create an open, inclusive and innovative European university.

Its missions: to facilitate mobility, develop joint training programs, encourage cooperation between institutions and strengthen the role of international studies in student training. To do so, they can take advantage of a range of opportunities, such as studying or doing an internship abroad; taking online courses; and participating in intercultural activities and entrepreneurial projects. This BIP is fully in line with this dynamic and is a concrete illustration of it. It testifies to EUNICE's determination to develop short, accessible and professionally-oriented international programs, enabling a wide range of students to enjoy a high-quality European experience. It also highlights the alliance's ability to co-create courses in collaboration with several partner universities, confirming the strength and relevance of the network. Beyond these European ambitions, BIP also stands out for the benefits it will bring directly to students. They will benefit from a different and inspiring approach to the world of research, thanks to conferences; concrete, collaborative and multidisciplinary workshops that will enable them to demystify the world of research. They'll also get a glimpse of the many European opportunities available to them - internships, mobility, intercultural projects - and gain a better understanding of how to become part of these international dynamics.

BIP will offer them a totally international and intercultural experience, working alongside students from all over the EUNICE alliance and sharing their perspectives within a multicultural group. Finally, this immersion will be an excellent opportunity to improve their English, while remaining in Valenciennes.
