Social sciences on a plate

The Research Workshop in Theatre and Societies organized and moderated by Yann Calbérac (University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne) and Irene Sartoretti (Polytechnic University of Hauts-de-France) will take place on January 16 and 17, 2023 at Le Boulon, Centre National des Arts de la Rue et de l'Espace Public.

Take groups that university tradition has kept apart: artists and scholars of performing arts and social sciences. Take a welcoming place conducive to exchange and discussion - the Boulon, national center for street arts and public space - and make it a stage for dialogue and exchange. Give them the necessary time - 2 days (January 16 and 17) - for these groups to meet, get to know each other, exchange and perhaps build. Take seriously the fact that these groups are creating, be it artistic or scientific, and let them invent. Give them the freedom to go against the divisions that have confined them in boxes (to the artists the art and the beauty, to the scientists the truth) and wait to see how the lines can be redistributed. In the end, a new way of mobilizing the performing arts to do science, and a new way of questioning society!
