E-mail: p.a.rubini [at] hull.ac.uk

I joined the University of Hull in 2007 as Reader in the Department of Engineering and was appointed as Head of Department for a three year term from 2008 until 2011. I am now Programme Leader for our Chemical Engineering degree programmes in what is now the School of Engineering.
I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Chemical Engineering and Fuel Technology and a PhD in the then developing field of Computational Fluid Dynamics. I now have over 25 years of experience in the development and application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to practical engineering problems. After 15 years at Cranfield University, working in close collaboration with Prof. Barrie Moss as the Computational Flows and Combustion Group, in 2007 I relocated to the University of Hull to establish an independent thermo-fluids and acoustics research group.
Over my career, research interests have broadened from originally concentrating upon gas turbine combustion, to now encompassing more general process systems, fire safety and heat transfer as well as low speed aerodynamics typified by Motorsport applications and a rapidly developing activity in the field of thermofluids and acoustics. Today this is all within the context of large scale parallel computing.
Please follow the links to the left for further information about my research and teaching activities or contact me directly.

MSc Research/ MPhil / PhD Opportunities
I supervise PhD research projects across a broad selection of topics. Applications are always welcome for PhD, MPhil and MSc by Research degrees topics related to the application and development of CFD, thermo-fluids and acoustics to practical engineering problems.
Please contact me directly to discuss opportunites, topics and available funding.
