A. M. Molnos, Delft U. of Technology (NL)
A forum for engineers and scientist to address challenges, and present new ideas in the multicore field, as well as introduce emerging implementations, and tackle related issues with respect to improving system performance and reducing energy consumption for multicore systems, as a whole.
Call for Papers: SS2 MSDA CFP
SS3: (DTDS) Dependability and Testing of Digital Systems
Special Session Organizer: H. Kubátová, CTU, Prage (CZ)
Every designed system has to be tested several times during its life period - during its design, production and its functionality. The need for testing strictly depends on the actual use of the system, e.g., if the system can be repaired or not, if the system must be safe, etc. The design must reflect these requirements. The special session on "Dependability and Testing of Digital Systems" (DTDS) addresses emerging issues, hot problems, new solution methods and their hardware and software implementations in all fields of digital and mixed-signal system dependability and testing. It is especially focused on the dependability and testing related to the SoC technology and modern embedded applications
Call For Papers: SS3 DTDS CFP
SS4: (FTDSD) Fault Tolerance in Digital System Design
Special Session Organizer: Z. Kotasek, Brno Univ. of Technology (CZ)
Defect/fault tolerant architectures (SoCs, NoCs, embedded systems), TMR based designs, voters, Dependability modeling, dependability analysis and validation, Design for testability in fault tolerant systems, FPGA based fault tolerant systems, partial/full reconfiguration based methodologies, Single-event upsets and effects, single-event transients, Fault injection techniques. Reliability analysis, On-line testing, design of checkers, Communication protocols testing, Reliable IP cores, Fault tolerance in nanotechnologies, Fault tolerant design in practical applications. Reliable applications, Functional safety and IEC 61508.

SS5: (SLEO) System-Level Energy Optimization of Embedded System
Special Session Organizers: T. Basten, UT Eindhoven (NL)
E. Villar, U. of Cantabria (ES)
Power consumption is becoming the main factor limiting the processing capability of embedded systems. Currently, most of the embedded systems are based on multi-processing platforms such as Systems-on-Chip (SoCs), board-based systems (PCBs) or Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs).
Call For Papers: SS5 SLEO CFP
SS6: (AHSA) Architectures and Hardware for Security Applications.
Special Session Organizer: P. Kitsos, Hellenic Open Univ. (GR)
The scope of this special session is on all views of hardware-oriented security. This special session is a presentation for new results from both the research and industry communities. Special interests are contributions that describe new methods for secure and efficient hardware implementations for embedded systems, e.g. smart cards, microprocessors, DSPs, RFID and Wireless Sensor Networks, etc
Call for Papers: SS6 AHSA CFP.
SS7: (MoRPS) Monitoring and Reconfiguration of Parallel Systems
Special Session Organizers: P. Liljeberg, University of Turku (FI)
E. Nigussie, University of Turku (FI)
This special session addresses all aspects of monitoring and reconfiguration of parallel and distributed systems, such as theory and modeling, scalable design approach and framework, algorithms, analysis and comparison, design techniques and practical implementations. The special session welcomes innovative works from both the research and industry communities
Call for Papers: SS7 MORPS CFP.
SS8: (DCPS) Design of Heterogeneous Cyber-Physical Systems
Special Session Organizer: Davide Quaglia, University of Verona (IT)
Future cyber-physical systems will be heterogeneous systems made of components from different domains, such as digital (hardware, software, network) and analog (electronic, electromechanical, etc., as for instance MEMS, power sources, thermal sources, sensors and actuators). To fully exploit the potential of current nanoelectronics technologies, as well as to enable the integration of existing/new IPs and "More than Moore" devices, new methodologies and tools for multi-disciplinary and multi-scale design, modeling, and simulation are needed.
Call for Papers: SS8 DCPS CFP.
SS9: (EP-DSD) European Projects in Digital System Design
Special Session Organizer: Francesco Leporati, University of Pavia (IT)
The aim of the Special Session is to bring together the researchers of major just started, ongoing or recently finished European Projects of FP7, Artemis, Eniac, Medea+ etc. in the (Embedded) Digital System Design Area to widely disseminate the awareness and information on the projects, as well as, to create a forum for exchange of ideas, advanced discussion and cross-project collaboration. We invite project leaders to deliver to give an overview of their European project, i.e. discussing the aims, problems to be addressed and issues to be solved, proposed approaches and/or results achieved till now. For more information contact: Pr. Francesco Leporati (
